Countryside Challenge Day

On Sunday 30th June 2024, Barrow Farm held its annual Countryside Challenge Day. This would not have been possible without the support of the Billericay Lions. The sponsored the event, provided volunteers for the carpark and the kitchen and helped to present the rosettes to the riders. We are also grateful to Kath Hatwell and Suzanne Brown for giving up their Sunday to judge the competition.

The staff and volunteers ensured that horses and ponies all looked fantastic and that they were all in the right place with the correct tack on at the appropriate time. Despite a bit of drizzle in the morning the day ran like clockwork. The riders did amazingly. Some were more nervous than others, but this competition is a nice way to challenge those riders that would be overwhelmed going to a competition at a different venue and it gives all our riders a chance to compete.

It is not over yet, although the Countryside Challenge course has moved back to the outdoor school, there has been a chance for our school riders to take part in the competition this week. Thanks again to all our supporters, volunteers and staff that make this happen!
