The Staff Team - Putting our aim into action
Barrow farm is lucky to have exceptionally dedicated and well trained staff. The expertise they have between them is impressive
- All have attended a child protection course
- All are trained in first aid
- They hold British Horse Society teaching qualifications or are working towards them
- All are regularly assessed by the Riding for the Disabled Association and attend regular training days
- Sally is an NVQ Equine assessor
- Anne is training to be an UKCC equine coach educator
- All regularly compete in local competitions and are involved with the ongoing training of the horses.
In addition Barrow Farm is approved and regularly checked by the following organisations.
We strive to continually improve and are working towards "Clubmark" Sports Accreditation. We enjoy excellent relationships with local schools and colleges and act as a work placement for NVQ students and Duke of Edinburgh volunteers.

Anne Mitchell - Chief riding Instructor
'the driving force'
Anne with her parents set the group up more than 30 years ago. Exmoor ponies are Anne's thing and you can find out more about the Exmoors of Barrow Farm in the About Barrow Farm - History page. Anne not only does the riding lessons but also does the driving too.

Sally Waumsley - Yard Manager
'the come back kid'
Sally first came to Barrow Farm as a 16 year old on a training scheme. She successfully completed her training and left to further her career. Some years later Barrow Farm was looking for a new member of staff and Sally returned. Sally is now yard manager and also instructs.

Clare - Trainee Instructor
'the not so new, new girl'
Clare has recently joined the team to train as an instructor. While she might only have been on the staff for a few months she was a volunteer for 10 years.

Suzanne Brooke -Trainee Instructor
'the new girl'
Suzanne along with Clare has recently joined us to train as an instructor. Suzanne works with us part time while she also works in a pub and is working to set up an equestrian business.
