Hello there, I’m Molly and I’m the biggest of the Barrow Farm horses. It has been said that if I had been on the English Rugby squad, then we would have won the cup! Not only am I big, but I am beautiful too. You wont be disappointed when you see me - you just cant miss me. I’m a 16.0hh skewbald mare and was born in 1994. Whenever there’s an open day and I’m paraded for everyone to admire, the song played is usually "Fat Bottomed Girls" by Queen- get the picture. Yes! I am one big, beautiful mamma and very proud of it too. I do command a bit of respect around here (I've heard whispers that some people have been a bit in awe of me) but the truth is that I’m as soft as butter - but I will put my foot down if I’m not handled nicely and tacked up properly and with care - just cos I’m statuesque, I still like the gentle touch.

Before Barrow Farm, I spent my time pulling an old fashioned gypsy caravan, my life was busy stolling aroung the Suffolk lanes, occasionally stopping for my passengers to enjoy a pub lunch.

Barrow farm found me when I was avertised for sale, they were looking for a weight carrier for adult riders. They came to see me twice and I have to say I looked fab. You have too make an effort to sell yourself these days. Once Anne and the Sallies had all had a ride on me and felt how comfortable I was the deal was clinched. I was bought for the bigger riders at Barrow Farm and I’v been able to make sure that riders who start at Barrow Farm as little children can continue riding as they grow into adults - and some of these young lads have a habit of turning into strapping young men - so I’m worth my weight in gold.

My forte is when I work my Molly Magic for riders learning rising trot. I’m a really smooth mover and no-one fails to get the rhythm when they’re on me. Some of my more capable riders can have a canter on me too, although that does take quite a bit of energy and I have to make sure Iv filled up on plenty of grub before a particularly gruelling day!

I am a wonderful "mummy" to the smaller ponies and I keep them all in check in the field and I really enjoy going out for hacks. In recent years I’ve had a bit of trouble with my front feet and have to have designer shoes. The good thing about that is that I get to spend quite a bit of time with the farrier - he’s always making out he’s tough but he’s just an old softie like me!.
