Hello, my name is Jack. I am a traditional gypsy cob and am the baby of the Barrow Farm Gang, I was born in 2001. As I am very laid back (almost horizontal, in fact) many people think I am a lot older than my years. Actually, although I have been doing RDA for only two years, I am very good at it. I am very steady and sedate with my riders, giving them confidence and helping their balance - I am fazed by virtually nothing and am aiming high to be nearly as good as the renowned Jet, who is my stable mate.

I was originally rescued as a 10 month old foal by my owner Miss Rikki Perkins who nurtured and cared for me til I was five. She thought I would have a great career as an RDA pony and put me in touch with Barrow Farm - and the rest is history. Rikki is still my mum but I love it at Barrow Farm and all the people who look after me.

The thing I am best at is going slow - I am very careful and caring if I may say so myself. I love being stroked and patted and all the fuss of my riders just leaves me in heaven! In the last two years I have learned to be a driving pony and will be aiming to do my “driving test” in the Spring so I can do RDA driving as well as my riding. I’ve overheard Anne and Sally saying that I’m doing really well, so well in fact that I’ve recently had my very own harness bought for me with money that the children at Blackmore school raised - they think I’m great hehehe!

When I’m not doing my very important job, I have a bit of fun with one of the Barrow Farm instructors, Sally D. She takes me out for hacks and even to some shows. I’m always on my best behaviour for RDA, but once I’m out with Sally, I can kick up my heels and be a bit of a devil. I love going for a gallop and go just as fast as the other Barrow Farm ponies, although no one believes Sally when she tells them.

One last thing to tell you about myself - I’ve got a beautiful mane, tail and feathers and I’ll stand for ages while I’m having them brushed and being made to look even more gorgeous than I already am.
